Nobuhiro Watsuki was born on May 26,
1970 in Tokyo, Japan. He was influenced by his older brother, Osamu Tezuka and Fujiko Fujio into becoming
a manga artist. He admitted that as a kid, his brother (who is 3 years older) and him used to always draw manga.
his older brother stopped drawing and since Mr. Watsuki was odd, he kept drawing it. Eventually, he became really good
at it. As a kid, Nobuhiro Watsuki practiced kendo. He wasn't good at it and quitted after a few years. He
also admits that he's quite weak. He never really liked sports when he went to school. He went to school at Nagoka
High School where he won the Pop Step Award for his creation Podmark while Sueisha was searching for new talent.
For a time, Nobuhiro Watsuki was an assistant to Takeshi Obata and participated in the production of Arabian Lamp Lamp and
Chikara Mito Denzetsu. In 1994, he included a 31 page excerpt in Sueisha for what seems to be a prelude to Rurouni Kenshin.
This marked the beginning of Rurouni Kenshin, the anime we've all come to love.
Oh yeah and his favorite character in Rurouni Kenshin is
Myojin Yahiko b/c of his determination to become strong. Mr. Watsuki admires this and wishes he was stronger.
His favorite villain is Shishio because Mr. Watsuki got to use all the evil parts of his mind. He's also a big fan of
the Shisengumi.
Some of Nobuhiro Watsukis hobbies are playing video
games (Vampire Hunter and Samurai Showdown) and watching animes like Neon Genesis Evangelion and his own, Rurouni Kenshin.
One of his favorite mangas include "One Piece". He also likes reading American comics like "Spiderman" and "X-Men".
Other than Ruruoni Kenshin, he also worked on "Gun Blaze West" which has recently ended. He has a new manga coming out
and it has to do something with alchemy.
