Episode # 1: The Legendary Samurai, The Man Who Fights For Love
The series
begins with a narrator speaking about the story of the Hitokiri Battousai, a legendary sword fighter who helped build the
Meiji era and had mysteriously disappeared into no where for the past ten years.
The scene switches to a young black-haired
girl chasing a red-headed man down the street accusing him of being the Battousai who had killed three men the night before.
The red-haired man claims he is only a Rurouni, a wandering samurai and shows her his sword. (His sword is a reversed-blade
sword making it impossible for him to kill anyone using it.)
The girl hears a commotion about the Battousai attacking
the town and she runs to see what's happening. A man claims that he is the Battousai and attacks the girl. (She tries to put
up a fight with a bamboo sword, shinei.) She receives a minor cut on her arm and the wanderer saves her right before the "Battousai"
attacks her. He runs off claiming that he is indeed the Battousai.
Later, the girl wakes up in her own dojo with a
bandaged arm. She finds the Rurouni cooking in her back yard with Ayanme, and Suzume. He offers her some of his cooking and
she comments rudely on how it tastes much better than her cooking. She offers for him to stay and he agrees to stay for a
while. (Of course you've figured out by now this girl is Kamiya Kaoru)
Later that night, Kaoru decides to take a bath
in the tub house. She doesn't want to believe that the "Battousai" once trained at her dojo under her father. She decides
to go underwater and hold her breath, but the Rurouni calls to her and when she doesn't answer, he thinks she's trying to
drown herself. He barges in to "save" her and she gives him one of the most nasty looks I've ever seen and screams at him.
He begs forgiveness and runs out of the bath room.
Later, Kaoru locks the Rurouni in a shed with some sleeping supplies
because she was so mad at him for what he did. He asks her if there ever was a man who trained at the dojo with a dislocated
right thumb. Kaworu becomes mad and leaves him in there.
Later that night, she goes out to apologize for her behavior
and to unlock the shed. She finds it clean with the bedding neatly made, but no sign of the Rurouni. She later recalls about
when she was a child there was a man by the name of Gohei Hiruma who trained under her father. The man turned somewhat evil
and decided to try to kill the child Kaoru. He attacks her father who uses his sword to break Gohei's right thumb telling
him that he is expelled and will never be able to use that hand again.
Once again, Gohei appears at the dojo wishing
to take his revenge. He attacks Kaoru and destroys her wooden sword. At that moment, the Rurouin walks in demanding that he
and his thugs leave. They disagree and Kaoru tell the Rurouni to run because of how strong they are. Rurouni smiles innocently
and comments on how he loves Kaoru's innocent preception of him. He attacks and knocks everyone out in a few simple blows.
He tells Gohei how the real Battousai uses the special technique called the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu. Both Kaoru and Gohei realize
that he is the real Battousai. Like the idiot he is, Gohei attacks anyway. The Battousai attacks and dislocates Gohei's left
thumb so that he can NEVER use a sword again. (too bad) He tells the others to call the police and tell them of these men.
Afterwards,
Kaoru thanks the Rurouni and asks him to stay at the dojo. She says if he still wants to be a wanderer, that's okay, but at
least she wants to know his real name and not some "title". He smiles and calls himself "Himura Kenshin." She asks for him
to stay, but he tells her he is a wanderer. She turns her back to him and pretty much begs him to stay. She hears the door
close behind her and she looks downward, thinking Kenshin has left. She turns around and he's still there. He says he'll stay
for a bit longer. Kaoru happily goes over and "pretends" to punch him thinking he will block. Unfortunately, he's not THAT
smart and gets pegged right in the face. (Poor Kenshin!) *_*
